Our Impact

Impact is not activity. It is meaningful change that lasts.

MentorSpace measures success by what becomes possible in people’s lives: stronger skills, safer livelihoods, greater confidence, better access to opportunity, healthier environments and communities with more capacity to shape their own futures.

Our impact philosophy

We measure transformation, not just participation.

Attendance matters, but it is only the beginning. MentorSpace’s impact framework is designed around meaningful changes in people’s lives and in the resilience of the communities around them.

That means looking beyond how many people attend an activity and asking harder questions: Are young people more employable? Are women operating more safely and independently? Are children gaining confidence and access to learning? Are households building stronger financial habits? Are communities restoring land, reducing risk and building local leadership?

This is the standard MentorSpace is building toward as programmes rebuild and scale.

How change happens

From community priorities to measurable long-term outcomes.

MentorSpace is strengthening a Theory of Change that connects what communities need, what programmes do, what people gain and what sustainable transformation should look like over time.

1. We ListenStart with community priorities, lived realities and locally identified barriers.
2. We EquipProvide relevant skills, mentorship, knowledge, tools and practical support.
3. We ConnectLink people to markets, finance, institutions, networks and opportunity.
4. We Measure & LearnTrack outcomes, learn from evidence and adapt programme delivery.
5. We SustainStrengthen local ownership, enterprise, resilience and long-term continuity.

Evidence, learning & accountability

Serious impact requires serious measurement.

MentorSpace is strengthening the systems that allow partners to see how programme activities connect to outcomes, how progress is tracked and how evidence informs continuous improvement.

Theory of Change

A dedicated Theory of Change will map the pathway from community needs and programme activities to outputs, outcomes and long-term impact.

  • Clarify assumptions and intended pathways to change.
  • Connect short-term outputs to longer-term outcomes.
  • Help funders understand how resources contribute to transformation.

Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL)

A dedicated MEL framework will define indicators, outcomes, reporting commitments and learning processes for programmes and partnerships.

  • Track meaningful programme indicators.
  • Use evidence to improve delivery.
  • Strengthen transparency and partner reporting.
The next chapter

COVID-19 slowed the work. It did not make the need smaller.

MentorSpace was severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Programme activity slowed, resources were stretched and opportunities to work directly with communities became harder to sustain.

Today, MentorSpace is steadily rebuilding around the areas where need remains clear: future-ready skills for young people, safer and more sustainable livelihoods for women in extractive communities, mentorship and learning opportunities for children, and stronger community resilience.

Help turn the next chapter into measurable progress. Funding, technical expertise, research, technology, mentorship and institutional partnerships can help MentorSpace strengthen systems, expand programme reach and build a more resilient platform for impact.
Impact grows when people choose to participate

The next measurable outcome can begin with one decision today.

Fund a programme. Share expertise. Support monitoring and learning. Mentor a young person. Help MentorSpace build stronger evidence, stronger systems and stronger communities.

MentorSpace is a community-driven nonprofit organization advancing education, skills development, economic empowerment, environmental stewardship and resilient communities in Kenya.
